Notes on running a static blog

A demo post · Riposte

Static sites are wonderful until someone wants to reply. Then the choices are a comment service that shows ads and follows your readers around, a widget that makes them sign in with a code-hosting account, or a server of your own that fills up with spam.

The comments below live on a public chain instead. There is no server of mine behind them and no account to make: a reader's browser does a few seconds of work, and a passkey signs what they wrote. Nobody can delete a comment but the person who wrote it. I can hide comments on my own pages, and anyone can still see that I did.
